Recovery Anonymous?

On Mother's Day a controversial article about alcoholism and anonymity appeared in the New York Times.  In it, NYT reporter David Colman used his first and last name when he revealed that he is in recovery.  Tradition Eleven of Alcoholics Anonymous states "Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films."

Some questions to ponder  . . . Did Mr. Colman's action break this tradition?  Is Tradition Eleven as relevant today as it was when written over 70 years ago?  Who's anonymity is it anyway??

Weigh in and share your thought!
